We are thrilled to announce that Summer Collegiate Baseball is coming to St. Catharines, Ontario in June 2025!
The Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League (PGCBL) has granted the first ever Canadian Franchise. The new Canadian team will compete in the West division of the PGCBL. Home games will be played at the historic George Taylor Field in St. Catharines.
St. Catharines has a long and storied history with baseball. The Toronto Blue Jays Minor League “A” team played at George Taylor Field from 1986 to 1999 in the New York-Penn League. Carlos Delgado, Pat Hentgen, Vernon Wells and Jeff Kent all graduated from St. Catharines’ baseball
What is Summer Collegiate Baseball?
- Summer Collegiate leagues are aspirational wood bat leagues for NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA college players who are preparing to play and/or be drafted into Professional baseball.
- Hundreds of Major Leaguers have played Summer Baseball to improve their skills.
- The summer league has an intense schedule playing approximately 50 games in 10 weeks. It is a sprint not a marathon!
- The most famous summer league is the Cape Cod Baseball League (CCBL) founded in 1885.
- Other well known leagues are the Northwoods League (Midwest USA) and the Western Canadian Baseball League (WCBL) with teams playing in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
What is the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League?
PGCBL is the largest, most successful league operating in New York State. The league started in 2010 and includes 16 teams competing in East and West divisions.
Perfect Game (PG) is the world’s largest and most comprehensive baseball scouting organization. PG is devoted to furthering the development and careers of talented high school and college baseball players.
